Abstract :
As a single-ring resonator is used for bit-by-bit switching, a large jitter of 63 ps and low extinction ratio may occur due to cavity photon lifetime. We propose a three-microring switch with only the middle ring driven, which exhibits a jitter as low as 6.4 ps and extinction ratio (ER) of up to 18 dB in the bus waveguide.
