Abstract :
Unfamiliarity with online help systems is a major stumbling block to using application help productively. This paper suggests that help writers should address the least capable user in their product´s “How to use help” topic rather than presuming that the novice user will “figure it out” or that they will learn it from the operating system. Ultimately, helping new users learn how to use the online help system makes them more productive and enhances their opinion of the product they are trying to use
