Abstract
Lifts are definitely one of the main forms of energy consumption of buildings. They spend 3-5% of the total consumption of a building. In this paper some results of measurements of energy consumption of elevators will be presented in order to classify those elevators according to their energy consumption. For the classification methodology, the German standard VDI 4707 will be used. The purpose of these tests is to study the contribution of VVVF drives to the energy performance of elevators, by comparing the consumption of various facilities.
