Abstract
In this paper, a new analytical and time-saving method is presented to generate an efficiency-optimized torque-speed characteristic for induction machines within minutes. The computed loss maps are incorporated into a vehicle simulation model and a thermal lumped parameter model in order to predict the energy consumption and the temperature distribution in the machine for any driving cycle. The effect of weighting certain losses during an efficiency calculation as well as the impact of different gear ratios on the energy consumption during a driving cycle is also presented.
