  • Abstract
    This paper focuses on the low speed performance of extended electromotive force (EMF) based position-sensorless speed control of surface permanent magnet synchronous motors (SPMSMs) in real-time. It is the first time Morimoto´s extended EMF approach is applied to SPMSM and its low speed performance is evaluated by real-time experiments. The results obtained from the designed position-sensorless drive system embedded on dSPACE-DS1104 controller and including the SPMSM of 0.0262 Vrms/rpm show that the stable low speed estimation and position-sensorless control can be executed down to 1.4286 % of the rated speed.
