  • Abstract
Summary form only given. The prediction of operating behavior (performances, losses, etc.) of electrical machines is a matter of industrial and academic interest. On one side, the standards on high efficiency motors require more and more improvement of the machine design; on the other side, the modeling of electromagnetic phenomena in the complex structures of motors is a problem that, at the moment, has not received a well-defined solution. In fact, the solution of such a problem involves both the analysis of laminated cores with nonnegligible skin effect and the modeling of the magnetic properties under distorted and rotational flux distributions. A further complication is added by the difficulties to obtain experimental results for comparison and validation of the computational values.
