Abstract :
The architecture of the transaction capabilities application part of the Signaling System Number 7 protocol as defined by CCITT is reviewed, and the key characteristics of the protocol and the formats and procedures are examined. The effectiveness of transaction capabilities for intelligent network service applications is illustrated by several transaction-based examples. These include the freephone or the 800 service, the calling card service, and the message transfer part routing verification test
