Abstract :
We study the effects of chaos based control of the DC arc furnace operation. The chaos models for DC arc furnace have been proposed in several papers, but until now there is no reference to a control strategy concerning chaotic voltage variation in DC arc furnace operation. There is some practical application of chaos suppression for DC-DC converters. However the use of DC converters is subject of introduction of nonlinear unstable perturbation making difficult to control the operation and therefore the disturbances induced by the coupled system converter nonlinear load. In case of DC arc furnaces supplied by DC-DC converters some of this solution is not suitable due to the constraints imposed by the DC arc furnace operation.
