Abstract
The main objectives of this work are to study and to determine losses effect in permanent magnet couplings in the presence of a non-magnetic conductive wall between its rotors. These losses are originated from eddy currents that circulate in the wall and entail a resistive torque to the one that is transmitted by the coupling and therefore, reduces the efficiency of its transmission. The determination of the nonmagnetic conductive wall influence on the magnetic coupling behavior is of major importance, since it allows the correct designing in applications such as sealed pumps and magnetic stirrers. An analytical approach was employed to calculate the permanent magnet behavior with and without the wall.
