Abstract
Summary form only given. The chair of Methodology and Techniques of the Archaeological Research at the faculty of Scienze Umanistiche of Sapienza Universitd di Roma is working since 1986 at the valley of the Coliseum, in the centre of the ancient Rome. Here with the excavations of the Metas Sudans and the North East slopes of the Palatine hill, a huge number of data and of different kind has been collected. The work and the excavations are still on progress. Since 10 years this archaeological research on field has used computers for cartography and survey activities: by the means of advanced tools like double frequency GPS, photo rectification, laser- scanner. At the same time a database has been planned and customized for archaeological data collection. The research on computer applications for archaeology is developed in three different levels namely territorial level; intra-site level; and media level.
