Abstract
In this paper, dual-edge phase-alignment and its effects on ring oscillators are presented. This method provides resetting the built-up jitter at both rising and falling edges of the reference. Using signal and system theory, the effect of the method on the spurs is completely analyzed. Adding the dual-edge aligning feature to phase-aligned ring oscillators, analytically resulting in the reference spur in the neighborhood of the carrier, disappearing. The validity of the resulted effects from analytic equations is verified through simulations using MATLAB.
