Abstract :
The effects of cochannel interference in cellular mobile radio networks are investigated to highlight how to develop the analytical evaluation of the corresponding outage probability and consequently of the frequency reuse distance in an extremely simplified manner. This methodology uses only the knowledge of the interference mean value and allows consideration of both general statistical conditions for the propagation media and randomness for the locations of the network users. The methodology is applied when Rayleigh fading, lognormal shadowing and path losses larger than in free space are considered. The numerical results obtained refer to several situations of practical interest. In particular, they allow the evaluation of the outage area within the cells of the considered structure for different values of the frequency reuse distance
