Abstract :
In response to the escalating energy crisis and related pollution problems verified worldwide, it is essential to assume new energy technologies that use renewable energy sources in an efficient and environmentally friendly manner. Accordingly, biomass offers world-wide one of the largest exploitation potential among renewable energy sources. This paper focuses on biogas production from municipal solid waste (MSW) landfills. This paper uses a decision making method taking fuzzy multi-rules and fuzzy multi-sets as basis to evaluate the main operational characteristics of renewable energy systems. This study aims to find the most appropriate renewable energy technology to be used in a MSW landfill. Several parameters will be used for the investigation: costs, efficiency, cogeneration, lifecycle, technical maturity and environmental impacts. Subsequently, the methodology will consider three scenarios with costs and environment constrains.
