Abstract :
The compressed mode (CM) functionality has been discussed from the beginning of 3GPP standardization work [http://www.3gpp.org], in research projects focusing to 3rd generation access technologies. In those days it was identified that existing CDMA systems are lacking of well defined inter-frequency measurement capabilities. Based on this a discontinuous reception and transmission ideas were introduced.
