Abstract :
The mobile phone as a mobile scanner: In this paper we present a system that turns camera phones into mobile scanners for 2-dimensional codes, without needing additional hardware devices. The proposed mobile system acquires Data Matrix codes through the photo camera of the mobile phone and analyses it. The picture of the code is identified automatically and decoded into the original character sequence using image processing. This economic cost-effective solution is a web and telephony based method for tracking and tracing of goods for small and medium sized business and logistics providers.
