Abstract :
The height of molten bath in aluminum production must be kept a specific range for the high efficient cell operation, but its measurement is very difficult. On the bases of the difference of temperature rising rate between molten bath (cryolite) and the others (air, aluminum, etc), we designed a new system to measure the height, which included the sensor, the intelligent meter and the program worked in the meter and in the high level computer. The sensor was made up of 15 joints k-type thermocouple distributed unevenly in vertical orient. The intelligent meter was consisted of AduC812 and extended some peripheral elements. The program realized the functions we needed. The primary uses showed that the system can be applied in the aluminum production to save the measurement time and labor, to increase the measurement precise, to improve the cell control and update the current efficiency.
