Abstract :
Performance is very important for video communication over VANET (vehicle ad hoc network). To analyze different route protocols of VANET, a simulation tool-set is presented for evaluating video transmission performance in this paper. The tool-set integrates myEvalvid, NS2 and VanetMobiSim. With the integration, researchers can easily evaluate the quality of video transmitted over VANET and analyze their designed mechanisms, such as network protocols or QoS control schemes in a realistic simulation environment. Real video data and real vehicle mobility trace file are used in the simulation study to better match the reality. This paper aims at the performance of different routing techniques under different network conditions. An integrated simulating platform is designed and an evaluation model of testing performance of video communication over VANET is presented. Test results shows that GPSR protocol is more suitable for video transmission over VANET, and the quality of video transmitted in dense traffic scenario is better than that in sparse traffic scenario.
