Abstract :
Distributed static series compensators (DSSC) are used to modulate series impedance of critical transmission lines in order to improve voltage stability margin. Voltage margin sensitivity is derived with respect to the applied control using DSSC. An example where applying load shedding results in reduction in margin is presented. In this case a DSSC is able to increase the margin substantially.
