Abstract :
As many interesting and diverse applications of Wireless Sensor Networks(WSNs) are explored, WSNs become an important research field which is rapidly growing due to the development of new technologies in inexpensive sensors. In this paper, a simulation framework is proposed based on OMNeT++ discrete event simulator, and the energy model is discussed for simulating Maritime Surveillance Sensor Networks(MSSNs). With ZigBee technology and wireless networks as a data link, the system realizes data acquisition for information such as ship dynamic states, anti-terrorist, marine environmental protection and other important resources. The model design makes it possible to simulate maritime surveillance system. Furthermore, the paper provides discussions and recommendations concerning energy consumption and communication protocol.
