  • Abstract
The purpose of the study is to obtain insights into the optimal future configuration and operation of Asian energy infrastructure. The author´s research group has been developing a global energy system model, which minimizes inter-temporally the sum of the discounted total energy system costs up until the year of 2050. The model explicitly involves international transportation networks of fuels and power as well as various energy conversion facilities, such as electric power plants. The model tries to illustrate concretely optimal geographical distributions of future demand and supply of various energy commodities in the world, and their international transportation flows. In this paper, the outline of the current version of the energy model and a summary of its computational results for Northeast Asia are presented.
