Abstract :
This study addresses the lacking research on the adoption of online collaboration technology. It proposes an extension of the Technology Acceptance Model (TAM) for assessing the effect of social influence and technology readiness on collaboration technology adoption and alternative collaboration technology use. In a first pretest of the proposed Technology Acceptance Model for Collaboration Technology (TAM-CT), using partial least squares (PLS) regression analysis, the empirical results indicate that social influence is of importance for collaboration technology adoption. Both extensions contribute to an improved model and it is shown that TAM-CT can be used for assessing alternative technology use due to appropriation and repurposing efforts.
