Abstract :
Using three different methods to modify orange peel, the effect of the said three kinds of methods on treatment of methylene blue solution was studied. The result showed that epichlorohydrin modified orange peel is best. Then the effect of initial concentration of methylene blue, pH, contact time and temperature on epichlorohydrin modified orange peel were assessed. Thermodynamic parameters during the biosorption were determined. The results show that the biosorption process of methylene blue by epichlorohydrin modified orange peel is feasible, spontaneous and exothermic under studied conditions. Kinetics is found to fit pseudo-second order type biosorption kinetics. It is found that surface of epichlorohydrin modified orange peel is rougher than orange peel by SEM. Therefore the epichlorohydrin modified orange peel is more conducive to biosorption processes.
