Abstract :
A convenient rewriting of the Electric Field Integral Equation is exploited to introduce a new model for scattering problems in lossy media. In particular, a series expansions based on this model .is introduced to solve in an accurate and effective way the forward problem. Theoretical tools and results are given on the range of applicability and the rate of convergence of the series, which favourably compares with the \´traditional\´ Born one. These tools allow to notice that the new model exhibits a lower "degree of non-linearity" with respect to dielectric characteristics as compared to the EFIE-based model, thus suggesting its exploitation in the solution of the inverse problem. Numerical examples assessing effectiveness of proposed models, tools and inversion method are presented.
