Abstract
The problem of photovoltaic array inclination is addressed. Fixed inclination is inadequate for certain periods of the year so that periodic adjustments are required to optimize the capture of surface irradiation. The system described operates at intermittent duty rating. Data are collected and processed for a specific time period, and the optimum array inclination for tracking at different periods of the year is determined. The system used in the experiment is described. It is equipped with an automatic tracking device for keeping both a photovoltaic module and a pyranometer in the orthogonal position with respect to the Sun
