  • Abstract
Well-known experimental data on the "instant radiation patterns" of receiving antennas on the closed tropospheric paths are compared with the results of mathematical modeling that take into account the different physical mechanisms of transhorizon propagation. The best agreement between calculated and experimental directional patterns on the paths of middle length is achieved when refraction and diffraction of waves are predominant factors.
