Abstract :
Frequency shift keying (FSK) modulation with adequate filtering has attracted a lot of attention in modern commercial personal communication systems due to the noncoherent detection to simplify the receiver structure. Based on the concept of filter bank, we propose a novel pure digital signal processing (DSP) receiver structure for the noncoherent detection of FSK. This structure provides advantages of easy implementation for all digital integrated circuits and better performance than ideal noncoherent receiver due to its inherent error correcting capability, according to computer simulations. It further provides compatibility for additionally possible equalizer and error correcting codes
