Abstract
Sample regulator design was initiated by Astrom in 1980 and has been subsequently developed into a well-established methodology. This paper presents two applications of the sampled regulator design method for flexible AC transmission systems (FACTS) control in power systems: (1) AC voltage control by static VAr compensator (SVC); and (2) DC voltage control in a unified power flow controller (UPFC), demonstrated by example power systems
