Abstract
A low-power source driver for TFT-LCDs has been proposed using triple charge sharing method that enhances the power saving efficiency of the previous charge sharing method. While the efficiency of the previous method is limited to only 50%, the proposed method provides about two-thirds of the total voltage swing of the source line by charge sharing between neighboring source lines and one external capacitor, thus achieving the power saving efficiency up to 66.6%. The additional circuits for this method are very simple, so that the area penalty is negligible. It has been confirmed by SPICE simulation that this method can be applied to 30-inch TFT-LCD with UXGA resolution
