Abstract
Currently, the relatively low-level development tools available at most tertiary institutions greatly limit the scope of real-time control projects which can be tackled at an undergraduate level. Although more sophisticated tools are available on the market, their prices are prohibitive. This paper presents a low-cost, integrated environment which allows for rapid prototyping of advanced control algorithms designed in Simulink on an affordable DSP based processing platforms in real-time
