Abstract :
This paper discusses the theory of series compensation in a three-phase four-wire distribution system using a DVR. The method of generating references for the voltages to be injected as well as the strategy for controlling the switching of the four-leg VSC used in the paper have been described. Simulation results have been provided which show that the DVR provides effective voltage regulation during transients. A detailed description of the action of the controller has been discussed with the aid of simulation results. The simulation has been performed using PSCAD/EMTDC (Version 3.0.7).
