Abstract :
Innovations in renewable energy technology are becoming more important as worldwide needs for affordable, reliable, and clean energy grow, and concerns over energy security and climate change mount. The importance of a broad portfolio of low and non-emitting electricity generation options for a carbon-constrained future has become very clear. The Electric Power Research Institute (EPRI) is committed to the research and development needed for new generation technologies and for the effective integration of these technologies into the electric grid. This presentation will provide an update on renewable energy technology development and deployment. It will also discuss the role of renewable energy as a future generation option as well as the challenges.
