Abstract :
The effect of microwave oven interference on the performance of several digital radio communications systems (PDC, PHS, ISM-band wireless LAN) is investigated. First, we measure the interference emitted from microwave ovens and it is shown that a high level interference is emitted from microwave ovens and its emission interval is matched with the powerline cycle. By using the measurement results, the performance of π/4-shift QDPSK and DS/CDMA systems are evaluated. Numerical results show that the performance of π/4-shift QDPSK is degraded by the effect of microwave oven interference. Moreover, it is shown that, for the case of the TDMA multiple access scheme, since the high level interference is emitted periodically, the specified channel suffers from the high level interference
