Abstract :
The author describes the Neuroimitator, an instrument that makes it possible to formulate neural networks of arbitrary architecture and to set the main parameters of neurons and the main parameters of synaptic connections. It makes it possible to calculate the membrane potential function of every neuron in quasi-continuous time, and to reproduce the network functioning under conditions when in the interval determined by a user the network parameters are modified according to the rule set by the user. At the present time, two models of the neuroimitator have been realized. The first model is realized in the form of a software package for the IBM PC and is able to imitate neural network functioning on a realistic scale, consisting of about 100 neurons. The second model consists of the card of a coprocessor-accelerator and permits one to imitate the network functioning with a dimension of the order of 104 neurons
