Abstract :
In order to study the distribution of the near field of the hand-held transceiver and whether such a strong electromagnetic field may do harm to the health of the user, an automatic measurement system has been built up and the software has been developed. The near field of the model Kenwood TR-2500 hand-held transceiver has been measured. The test result indicated that the field square exceeded 4000 V2/m2 in a wide space around the transceiver, the limit value of ANSI C95.1-1982 protection guidelines, and it may do harm to the health of the user. It is recommended that the transceiver be held at least 25 cm from the face when transmitting
