Abstract :
Biological effect of selenium pollution on germination process of rice cultivars Shanyou 63, such as germination vigor, germination percentage, and growth status of embryo and radicle were studied, by soaking healthy seeds in sodium selenite solution(0 mg·L−1, 3.125 mg·L−1, 6.25 mg·L−1, 12.5 mg·L−1, 25 mg·L−1, 50 mg·L−1, 75 mg·L−1and 100 mg·L−1).Reduction in length of radicle was higher than that of embryo. Both of minimum intoxication effect concentrations for embryo and radicle were about 12.5 mg·L−1,while it was probably that medical lethal concentration value for seedling biomass began ranging within 25mg·L−1∼50mg·L−1 sodium selenite. Therefore, reduction in biomass was more sensitive than length of embryo and radicle, when rice was used as indicator plant for monitoring selenium pollution.
