Abstract
Summary form only given. Some two-dimensional movement motors have been developed, in which there is a problem of force ripple in the precise positioning. The authors propose an X-Y linear synchronous motors. The configuration with air-core coil has no core loss and no detent force which accompanies the force ripple. A pair of field permanent magnets (PMs) in each side is always kept at the angle of 45 degrees to the x- and y-axis. The field PMs with yoke are used as a mover.
