Abstract :
Since 2003, the Chinese government has taken a series of targeted policies and measures to suppress road accidents. In recent years, in the case of the rapid economic development, rapidly growing motor vehicle amount, and changes greatly in road safety environment, China successfully achieved the objectives that road accidents from the peak to be suppressed, until to the decline year-by-year. The situation of road safety in China has been improved every year. The development of road safety in China is reviewed, and the new changes of road safety circumstance in recent years and the characteristics of road accidents are analyzed. Although the road safety has made great achievements in China, there is a large gap compared with the developed countries. The pressure to further improve road safety is growing, and road safety is facing the enormous challenges and new opportunities.
