  • Abstract
In this paper, the thermal decomposition mechanism of carbide sludge was studied by thermogravimetric technique under pure N2 atmosphere and different heating rates. Iso-conversional method was used to determinate the activation energy value and the rules that the activity energy decreased along with the addition of conversion rate without proposing the mechanism function. And the kinetics triplets were derived as follows: the activation energy E, the function of reaction mechanism f(α) and the pre-exponential factor A, which were deduced by using the Malek method. The research results indicate not only that when the heating rate was higher the decomposition was fasted, but also that the shrinking sphere model with phase boundary reaction is the best model fitting the experimental data of carbide sludge decomposition. The conclusion is an important reference for further research of carbide sludge used in the process of desulfulrization of flue gas.
