Abstract :
This paper describes techniques for single phase AC-to-DC converter with near unity power factor. The topologies of single phase power factor correction (PFC), consisting of an AC source, a front-end diode rectifier, power stage of the converter with output filter, and a load, are proposed to achieve high performance and simple control circuit. The output voltage can be maintained above or below the peak AC input voltage by changing the duty cycle of the active switch. The PWM switch classification, AC-to-DC converter circuit topology, design of control circuit, simulation and experimental results are reviewed in this paper
