Abstract
The purpose of this study was to investigate the capabilities of ground-penetrating radar (GPR) in several kinds of rehabilitated coalmine soils. Four rehabilitated soils treated by different methods were selected in this experiment. The treatments correlated to them are :(1) without any special treaitment;(2) adding 5% coal fly ash;(3) adding organic matler;(4) adding 5% slurry. GPR data were collected by common midpoint (CMP) method and common offset method. The water content was calculated using CMP data, and different calibration functions were employed. The analysis shows that the calculated water content is pretty good for soil (1)(3)(4), but it´s worse for soil (2). Furthermore GPR data energy was analyzed by spectrum analysis and frequency spectrum analysis methods. The plot shows an apparent difference between soil (2) and the others.
