  • Abstract
The subject measure was taken to implement the long-pending improvement of the train-sensing crossing signals installed at the Chifune-cho level crossing where National Route 56 and City road cross the Takahama Line of Iyo Railroad Corporation. To detect the so-called trapped vehicles that are left in a railroad crossing and to indicate them by the signal for the trains, we installed 10 pairs of railroad-crossing obstacle detecting units. Each units utilizes the infrared ray from an IR-emitting diode with a wavelength of 950 nanometer. When the ray is interrupted for a certain period of time continuously, the system treats the ray-interrupting object as an obstacle
