Abstract :
In this paper, a design method based on nonsmooth, nonconvex optimization is applied to the design of power system controllers for improving small-signal stability. The design method was developed to solve the problem of the design of low order controllers using output feedback and incorporating robustness constraints. The method is applied to the problem of stabilization of a test system with only one power system stabilizer and to the design of a centralized controller, part of a two-level hierarchical control.
