Abstract :
In Tokyo´s 24 wards, traffic congestion is chronic and traffic pollution problems due to exhaust emissions have occurred. As countermeasure, various plans using public transportation facilities based on the management plan are being promoted. For promoting the TDM plan the Metropolitan Police Department has introduced a bus priority system as part of the UTMS plan being promoted by the National Police Agency, and also introduced train-interlocked signals as part of the priority plan for metropolitan streetcars. This thesis presents cases aimed at ensuring a smoother traffic flow and accident prevention measures using train-interlocked signals, cases of green light operation based on crossing-interlocked signals and cases of various signal indication methods interlocked with railroad crossings, and discusses the promotion of crossing-interlocked signals for greater safety and smoothness from the traffic administrator´s standpoint
