Abstract
The Iwate Prefectural Police HQ has been seeking to secure safe and smooth traffic by improving and amplifying the signal control and traffic information provision functions of its traffic control (TC) system. To further advance its traffic control functions while making efforts to implement the concept of Universal Traffic Management Systems (UTMS) established by the National Police Agency, the police HQ decided to introduce an advanced mobile information system (AMIS), one of the subsystems in the UTMS concept, into Morioka City a capital city of the prefecture. This paper describes its short-term plan of introducing the AMIS and its subsequent plans for other two UTMS subsystems
