Abstract :
Interconnection of megawatt-scale wind turbine generators with local-delivery type of distribution systems introduces a number of challenges. Foremost is the issue of islanding, and particularly the overvoltages that can occur as a result of islanding. This paper discusses the causes for these overvoltages as well as strategies to avoid or minimize them.
