Abstract :
In this paper, we are presenting a modified form of Intelligent Hybrid MAC (IH-MAC) protocol, that is a decentralized approach which guarantees to attain maximum efficiency in terms of security, energy consumption, congestion control and time synchronization. The existing IH-MAC protocol utilizes both CSMA and TDMA approaches with the concepts of broadcast scheduling and link scheduling. The Improved Intelligent Hybrid Multiple Access Control approach involves the utilization of the strengths of Q-MAC and Z-MAC protocols to reduce the energy consumption by controlling the transmission power of the various nodes in a wireless sensor network. Furthermore, in this paper, the concept of parallel transmission is being supported by the `2-hop neighbor identification´ mechanism in order to reduce delay. Moreover, the simulation and analytical turnouts validate the theoretical idea and evince the enhanced efficiency of the proposed protocol.
