Abstract :
In this paper the results of an overall research work dealing with the management strategies for the effective transport of a “multi-media” and “multi-requirement” service in enhanced 3rd generation mobile radio systems are presented. The contemporary use of more bearers, one for each traffic component of the service, coupled with innovative control techniques, ad-hoc developed to recognise and jointly manage the different parts of a unique multimedia traffic, is designed. Better exploitation of mobile channel is achieved by adapting to the new traffic nature the procedures of set up, handover, channel access and admission control
