Abstract

Nowadays using Presence and IM (Instance Messaging) services in communication (voice, video and text) especially in real time communication is so popular and has a great position in telecommunication world; so many people use Messengers. In this paper, we will revise the functionality of these services; meanwhile, we will study the protocols which are used in implementing IMP services in Yahoo Messenger and its interoperability with windows live messenger. For this purpose, we will capture protocol messages and analyze them in order to compare the mechanisms which are used by these service providers with the open standards patterns.
