  • Abstract
    Biomimetic materials are attractive for tissue engineering. They are applied as scaffolds for tissue regeneration. To mimic both structure and function in nano and micro scale, tissue are immobilized onto material substrates. In the structural part, biomolecule self-assembly is mimicked, leading to organization of fibrillar structures. In the functional part, whole and some active parts of molecular signals are immobilized onto scaffolds. To mimic structures in macro scale, scaffolds are fabricated into porous form. Finally, biomimetic materials are used as scaffolds for cell culturing. The mimicked condition of culturing leads to bioreactor concept which is a high performance method in tissue engineering.
