Abstract :
Because of the initiation of various new ITS (intelligent transport systems) and related services, a drastic increase in the number of terminal devices with faster circuits could be foreseen at the traffic control center. As a result, the cost of using communication circuits has been steadily going up. A LAN system enables us to decrease the cost of using a communication network because it could share a circuit for central connection with more than one terminal device. Besides, the system easily copes with high-speed communication. Based on the above, the authors proceed to consider setting up a LAN type network system instead of the present network in Wakayama Prefecture. In order to connect highly developed terminal devices dealing with bulk data in the future, the authors consider that a communication infrastructure is required to be developed and deployed in a LAN type network system
